It’s like a New Year’s Resolution – only different…
Pristine ‘natural’ Scottish singletrack on Skye
I was going to Blog about New Year’s Resolutions but everybody else does that. And besides, I missed the deadline… So instead I thought I’d just ask a question. An MTB related question of course.
So is there anything you’ve never done on/with your bike that you’d really like to do? Anything that if you got to the end of 2014 and thought to yourself ‘I still haven’t blah, blah, blah…’ then you’d be disappointed?
Because if there is, write it down now.
Whether you have only ever ridden in trail centres and think it’s time to break away? Or perhaps you fancy that first trip to Scotland for some real remote riding. How about a coast to coast? Or your first real mountain summit – up and down? Or a 2-dayer – sleeping wild or perhaps the luxury of a B&B and a pub in the middle? A foreign trail? Passportes du Soleil or the Mega Avalanche? A race? Bearbones 200? The list is only limited by your imagination.
Now stick the bit of paper you’ve written on somewhere obvious: computer screen, fridge door, handlebars, desk, wall – it’s up to you. And then leave it there until you have started making plans.
Ask your mates if they’re interested. Do some googling. Ask on one of the many forums. Even ask someone like me if I can help (small plug… got to earn a living 🙂 )
Then this time next year, you’ll be smug in the knowledge that you did it.
Ok, so it’s a bit like a New Year’s Resolution – but at least you can still drink… And you’ll thank me once you’ve done it 🙂
Happy New Year!
